Line of Defense Tactics….Something Different

Line of Defense, a strategy game at the heart, and an rpg on a deeper level. This game is quite possibly something you could spend hours playing, and that is only from customizing your squad, actual gameplay will take you even further. In LODT You get to control a squad by tap and drag gestures. You move along maps on foot or by vehicle in rare instance to complete certain objectives. Each soldier can be customized, everything from primary to secondary weapons, or even things such as certificates, which act more like special skills that the soldier can use. ( i.e.-deploying a turret)

For those of you out there that are “hardcore gamers” good news, at the start there are two different game options for you to choose from. One is clearly for me (beginner) and the other is a hardcore mode. There is also a skirmish mode, which seems to be more like a survival mode, unfortunately you have to pay $1.99 for this game mode.

While this game is certainly a different type of game than what we are used to seeing on the IOS market, it does unfortunately suffer from some downfalls. One of those being that controls are not as fine tuned as they should be. This game is offering something different with the drag and drop controls, however I found that I would prefer the tap and go movement more (which is offered luckily) The units were also difficult to tap on individually and it is confusing to know which unit you have selected in the midst of combat. Furthermore, the in app purchases are not helping this game in any way. Really 1.99 for a game mode? Felt a little deceptive to me. Luckily there seems to be ways to earn credit through the patience and play so that you can upgrade your arsenal of weapons, skills, and armor.

3.1 **Average**

This game is definitely something that will capture many that are interested in a strategy/rpg offering. However the controls and IAP’s really hold it back. Check this game out if you want intriguing strategy mixed with rpg elements.

PLAY THIS GAME, ya’ jackwagon!….LeagueOfWar Review

With the influx of first person shooter’s into the market it is great to see developers willing to break the mold and try something different, and thats exactly what Munkyfun has decided to do. This is not an fps, but instead more of an RTS style of play. In this “tug-of-war” system, the player tries to deploy as many troops as possible to destroy the enemies base. You do not have control over the your units, you simply choose which units deploy and watch them stomp (or roll) and hope they can decimate the other army’s base. That is not all though, you need to use strategy to take the other army down, you can’t simply deploy and units you want, each units has its strength’s and weaknesses.

There is also a fun and gripping multiplayer mode in which you battle another player that is in the same skill bracket as you. ┬áBut what truly sells this game for me is the rpg element they have added to the game. In completing battles you gain experience, money, and sometimes even new units. You collect different types of units to use in battle, each with different strengths and weaknesses the trick however is to figure out which lineup you want to take to war with you. (You can only manufacture 6 different types of units per battle). To add to that with the duplicate units you get you can use those to upgrade other units, making them even more powerful AND there are different class rankings (a unit may have a A,B, or C class and if you’re lucky you might get a “rare” class) So fair warning, watch yourself while playing multiplayer because you never know who has what. (you can check an opponents line up before the game.)

The one drawback to this game is the IAP’s, now hold on! they aren’t to bad for now, the game seems to work by an energy system, so you buy gold pieces in which you can convert that to energy, OR you could wait for a few mins. while your energy bar refills. (I believe I was able to get around 10 battles in, and then I waited five mins. and my meter was completely full, your choice!) All in all this is a great game!

Just a little taste of the chaos that awaits!

4.5 **Pure Genius**

I failed to mention, the graphics in this game are quite stunning, it is a really beautiful thing to see your horde of units you created destroying the other enemies base. This game will keep you coming back for hours, and if you are turned off by the IAP system, just know that from first glance it isn’t a pay to win system, you don’t need to spend real money to be good at this game. Players will not be disappointed when downloading League of War.

*BEFORE YOU GO* describing this game may sound dull to you, but i assure you it is not. For now I can only use my words and pictures (for the moment) to describe a game to you so allow me to attempt to paint a better picture here.

(Read in Morgan Freeman’s voice at half speed) Here it goes: *** In a world ravaged and defeated, a warrior must rise to the occasion of war. He/she must command great army’s and decimate whatever stands in his/her way to become the ultimate warlord! Build your army to perfection and defeat other Warlords to become the greatest of all time.***
